HSP Seminar no.110 Human Rights in China and Peace in Asia and Africa

The awarding of this year’s Nobel Peace prize to China’s Liu Xiaobo has brought a significant amount of international attention on the human rights situation in China. In today’s China, not only Liu Xiaobo but many other human rights activists remain under detention and the assault on the rule of law continues. The seminar will focus on the latest human rights situation in China including ethnic issues surrounding Tibet and Uighur, and what they mean not only to Chinese society and Japan, but to peace in Asia and Africa.
