Title | “Human Rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea by UN OHCHR” |
Descriptions | We will be welcoming James Heenan, representative from OHCHR Seoul Office to present their most recent report, Situation of Human Rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (A/HRC/60/58), submitted to the UN Human Rights Council in September 2025. Together with moderator Professor Ai Kihara-Hunt, we will explore key findings from over a decade of documentation, including the tightening of state control, persistence of political prison camps, enforced disappearances, and the erosion of fundamental freedoms in the DPRK. We will also reflect on the international community’s role in accountability and engagement. This event is open to the public by prior registration only.
